MOVANS and New Madrid County Custody
MOVANS is Missouri's official victim-notification system. VINELink is its public web route. The state's public-user guide describes searches by name or offender ID, narrowed by date of birth or an age range. You can pick an agency, see photos when they exist, and register for notices. The service tracks custody status and changes. It is not an arrest log, docket, or archive. Which New Madrid holding agency feeds VINE is not stated publicly. That matters here. County custody has been in transition during 2026. The old jail at #2 Courthouse Square was out of use by June, and a joint Sheriff, Juvenile, and 911 facility at 350 US Highway 61 was still being finalized. August reporting placed most New Madrid inmates at Scott County Jail, with two lower-level offenders at Scott City Jail. So read the named agency closely.
Check a Person on VINELink
VINELink suits one known person. Do not use it to browse. Gather the full legal name, date of birth or age range, and offender ID if you have it, and never treat a similar name as the right match.
- Open the official VINELink classic search and choose Missouri.
- Select the relevant agency or location when the interface offers that control. Because New Madrid custody can be outside the county, do not assume one facility.
- Enter first and last name, or use an offender ID when available. Add date of birth or age range to reduce common-name matches.
- Review the result list, then open the likely record. Compare identifiers, reporting agency, status, and facility before accepting a match.
- Record the visible update time and source label. A useful label is “MOVANS/VINELink custody result, reporting agency shown in result.”
- Confirm urgent or unclear information with the facility shown or the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office at 573-748-2516.
The countywide New Madrid County recent-arrests guide ties everything together. It shows how a custody result fits with arrest reports and court records.
What a VINELink Custody Result Shows
A result answers two questions: whether a participating agency reports the person in custody, and where that agency places them. Fields vary by agency. The state guide describes the search and detail elements, but it does not promise New Madrid County shows all of them.
| Field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Name | Compare with birth date, age, ID, and agency rather than relying on name alone. |
| Offender ID | A stronger reference for later checks and facility calls. |
| Date of birth or age | Helps distinguish people with similar names. |
| Reporting agency | Shows which participating authority supplied the result. |
| Custody status | A point-in-time description such as held, released, or transferred when reported. |
| Facility or location | The place associated with the current result, subject to later movement. |
| Photo if available | An optional identity aid, not proof of guilt and not guaranteed locally. |
| Notification option | The route to register for selected custody-status changes. |
Register for Missouri Custody Alerts
Registration is separate from searching. Use only contact details you control. A registration asks for notice when the record reports a qualifying change, such as a release or transfer, and the interface carries privacy instructions worth following.
- Open the matched offender record and choose the registration or notification option.
- Select an offered delivery method. The Missouri guide describes telephone and email routes, with language choices where available.
- Enter the requested contact destination accurately. Do not expose another person’s contact information.
- Create or enter the personal identification number when telephone registration requires one. Keep it private because it confirms receipt.
- Review the selected event types and complete registration. Do not assume an unfinished form is active.
- When a notice arrives, listen to or read the complete message, acknowledge it as instructed, and verify urgent changes with the reporting facility.
The state service materials say registration is free. Keep the offender ID handy too. Hold onto the reporting agency and facility name so a later notice can be checked against the right record.
Why a New Madrid Arrest May Be Missing
A no-result does not settle the question. The arresting agency may not participate as expected. A new intake may not have reached VINE yet. The name may be recorded differently, the person may have bonded out, or a transfer may have moved the reporting location. A summons can happen without a booking. The inter-county arrangement adds one more gap, since a search aimed only at New Madrid can miss the actual custodian. Check the New Madrid County Sheriff page for current contact details, then call and ask which office holds inmates or keeps records today. Search the MSHP five-day reports when Highway Patrol may have made the arrest. Case.net can show a filed case later. It is not live custody, though. The Missouri DOC Offender Search applies only after state custody or supervision begins. It also leaves out discharged offenders.
VINELink Is Not Every Custody System
VINELink has limits. It does not replace the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator or the ICE detainee locator. Federal criminal custody belongs at BOP. Immigration detention follows its own identifier rules. A missing state or county result says nothing about federal custody, and Missouri DOC status is separate from a recent local booking. The official BOP Inmate Locator is the right federal route.

This screen is a separate federal system. Treat it that way rather than as a New Madrid County roster. The Missouri DOC Offender Search is the official route for state prison and supervision.

This state screen matters after a person enters DOC custody or supervision. An arrest report alone does not put someone there.
Offender Watch, Photos, and Records
The Offender Watch module on the Sheriff page is not an inmate roster or booking feed. It is no substitute for VINELink. The Sheriff's office lists no mobile booking app. Never read it as a same-day arrest. Keeping these tools separate stops sex-offender data from being mistaken for a fresh jail intake. The official Sheriff page shows the county service context.

The Sheriff's page shows the county route and how it differs from a booking roster. A VINE photo is an optional identity field. This page hosts no galleries. It rehosts no booking photos. You will find no paid-removal links and no warrant-evasion advice here. To get an arrest report, booking record, release record, or photo, send a focused Missouri Sunshine Law request to the arresting or holding agency. Ask who the custodian is during the transition.
Alerts Need a Second Check
Alerts help, but they can lag. A transfer, a facility update, or a simple contact error can slow a message. So treat any alert as a prompt rather than proof. For urgent safety decisions in New Madrid County, call the reporting agency or the jail. Confirm the custody change with a person. The record itself lists the agency and facility details you need for that call.
Wrong data on screen? Write things down first. Save the offender ID, the agency, the status shown, and the time you checked. The agency that reported the arrest can correct custody data. Case questions belong with the court. Keep in mind that an arrest record can outlast a release. Closing or clearing a record takes the official legal path. Some records stay closed for juvenile privacy or other lawful reasons.
Note: VINE is a current notification service, not a complete archive of New Madrid County arrests or later court outcomes.
